Internship at The Nobel Prize
As the final portion of my content development education I interned at Nobel Prize Outreach, the media organization responsible for the communication of the Nobel Prize. I worked on the editorial team, creating content for social media and nobelprize.org. I gained experience with a variety of programs and tasks including:
Video editing using DaVinci Resolve
Reels, social media clips and long form videos with subtitles, transitions, music selected depending on tone and formatted in adherence with brand guidelines. Some videos were edited for weeks with interdepartmental communication. Others were made during the Nobel Prize announcements. Those reels were highlights from press conferences, phone calls and celebrations, created quickly at the end of a long day.Concept creation: Reels, audiograms and instagram stories
I found subjects of interest, watched longer videos and condensed them to most interesting section that could stand alone as a one minute piece of content for various social media channels. I sometimes created multiple versions considering strategy, algorithm, audience and formatting.
Extensive use of Qbank for Data Asset Management
For an organization with 120 years of assets in their database, attention to detail was key. I became very familiar with efficiently editing metadata to ensure it will be found for years to come but not take up precious space unnecessarily.Conducting vox pops interviews
During Nobel Week Dialogue I talked to attendees willing to participate in on-camera interviews. I asked questions related to Nobel laureates and their discoveries all the while making them feel encouraged and comfortable in order for them to give their best response.Web editing using Wordpress
I updated parts of the website, removing outdated boxes and adding more recent videos highlights and photos from events. While doing this I brought attention to the issue of event concepts, which were only represented by tabs. The difference between these events with very similar sounding names, is understood internally, but they are indistinguishable externally. I added copy and thumbnails to clarify.
Research and question formulation for official laureate interviews
I was tasked with writing the questions to be asked of the 2022 physics laureates. I watched keynotes, press conferences and interviews to prepare. I got a feeling for what they each like to talk about and crafted questions specific to their personalities. Keeping in mind the kind of content that works for our channels, I wrote the questions accordingly and briefed the interviewer on their style and what to expect.
